Can Pelvic Inflammatory Disease Affects Men

Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) is a condition that primarily affects people with female reproductive organs. 

However, men can also experience a similar infection called epididymitis, which can cause inflammation of the testicles and epididymis. 

Here is some information on epididymitis, including causes, symptoms 

1. Bacterial infections


The most common cause of epididymitis is a bacterial infection, often resulting from sexually transmitted infections such as chlamydia and gonorrhea.

2. Urinary tract infections

Bacteria can also travel from the urethra or bladder to the epididymis and cause infection.

3. Prostate infections

In some cases, a prostate infection can spread to the epididymis and cause epididymitis.

1. Pain and tenderness in the testicles and epididymis.


2. Swelling and inflammation of the testicles and epididymis.

3. Pain during urination or ejaculation.

4. Discharge from the penis.

5. Fever and chills.
